A 27-year-old rural River Falls man was buying shots and drinks for himself, his brother and patrons at The Corner Saloon, 128 N. Main St., last week. Then he allegedly tried paying a $95 tab with a bad credit card. The card was put back on the bar counter. He grabbed it and allegedly raced out with his brother. A bartender followed, shouting for him to pay up and not to drive because both were drunk.

River Falls junior Garrett Loomis moved up seven spots on the second day of the WIAA Division 1 Boys’ State Golf Tournament in Madison Tuesday to finish in a tie for fifth place with a two-day total of 148. Loomis cut two strokes off his first-day score of 75 at University Ridge Golf Course to card a 73 on Tuesday and bring home a fifth place medal.
