UW-River Falls’ Mike Sandle won a national championship in the triple jump and two other Falcons earned All-American honors Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Claremont, Calif.

Bailey Franklin of River Falls finished third in the high jump at the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships March 10 in Mankato, Minn. to earn All-America honors for the second straight year.
Westside Elementary School 5th grader Calla Dexheimer competed at the USA Track and Field Minnesota Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Championships at St. Louis Park High School last weekend. She placed first in the Bantam Girls 800 meter run and second in the Bantam Girls 1500 meter run. She has qualified to compete at the regional meet in both events at Hamline University July 7-10.
Junior Natalie Powell is stuck in the middle of the pack on the first lap of the girls’ 1600 meter run Saturday at the All-American Invite. Powell finished 11th with a time of 5 minutes, 43.25 seconds.
Calla Dexheimer, Mya Davis and Elena Dexheimer, in front from left, spent Halloween weekend running in the Great Pumpkin Chase 5K and 10K at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve. Calla and Mya are in the 4th grade and Elena is in kindergarten at Westside Elementary School. The girls were joined by their parents, Karen Lloyd, Rich Lloyd and Mike Dexheimer.
Annie Frisbie, age 13, recently took first place in the female 15-and-under division in the Half Marathon at the 2010 Minneapolis Marathon. Her time of 1 hour, 45 minutes, 45 seconds, was the fastest for all females age 19 and under. She placed 77th out of 2,209 females, and 291st out of 3,372 runners. This was Frisbie’s first half marathon. She ran it with her aunts, Wendy Zins of Center City, Minn., and Susanne Wagner of Albertville, Minn. Annie is the daughter of Matt and Shari Frisbie and will be an eighth grader at Meyer Middle School in the fall.
Wildcat senior Oscar White wrapped up his high school career by competing in the long jump at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse. White finished 20th in the event with a distance of 41 feet, 1.75 inches.
The UW-River Falls women’s 4x400 meter relay team set a school record and placed fourth to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, last weekend.
UW-River Falls junior Dan Rodewald heads down the final stretch in the men’s 400 meter dash final at the WIAC Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon at David Smith Stadium at Ramer Field. Rodewald, a former River Falls High School standout, finished eighth with a time of 51.79 seconds.
Paige Skorseth and Natalie Powell finished first and second, respectively, in the 3200 meter run to provide the margin of victory for the Cats at the Ellsworth Track and Field Invitational last Monday in Ellsworth.
