An elderly couple from Altoona -- Harvey Wick, 85, and Ruth Wick, 84 -- died in a single-vehicle crash on I-94 in eastern St. Croix County Monday evening, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol. A third occupant of the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

River Falls Fire Chief Scott Nelson says that even with the recent light rains, conditions remain dry and the fire ban for the area will continue. Nelson has talked with fire chiefs in Hudson and Prescott who concur about this decision.
Healthier Together-St. Croix County is receiving a Transform Wisconsin Impact Grant to promote active communities in St. Croix County. The $160,000 grant will be invested over the next two-and-a-half years in collaborative, multifaceted strategies to help increase physical activity in our communities as we work toward long-term, sustainable change.
Willow River State Park, 1034 County Highway A, will host a kids fishing contest on Sunday, June 3, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The contest is open to children up to age 12. There will be three age groups: 6 and under fish from 9-9:45 a.m.; ages 7-9, from 10-10:45 a.m.; and ages 9-12, from 11-11:45 a.m. There is a $1 per child entry fee. The contest starts at 9 a.m. and registration opens at 8:30 p.m. Prizes are awarded after each age group. The prizes are for the largest fish, smallest fish and the most fish.

Using solutions from Coplogic, Inc., the Sheriff’s Office’s Online Citizen Reporting System is improving the use of staff time and ensuring all stolen property is accurately reported and tracked.
