Fair truck, tractor pull winners announced
Once the Pierce County Fair got underway on Aug. 11, it wasn’t long before you heard the roar of the truck pull starting in the grandstand.

Derby Day in Pierce County
The high point or largest gathering point of any Pierce County Fair is annual Ellsworth Funster Demolition Derby and Saturday's derby was no exception. Over 40 cars, both compact and full-sized competed in front of a packed grandstand area for a purse over $4,000. Check out photos and videos from this year's derby but be warned to keep the volume down on your computer. 14 stock cars in one heat make a whole lot of noise.

The Fair is in town!
The 2011 Pierce County Fair got underway Thursday morning with the opening ceremony honoring Pierce County's veterans. Animals began to arrive to their pens and kids, many of them in groups of same-colored T-shirts, flocked to the rides with the Midway opening up.

Pull!
Sunday afternoon 5-year-old Brian Johnson of River Falls pumps away in the Pierce County Fair Pedal Tractor Pull. Johnson, the son of Sandra Rohl and who will be a kindergartner at Greenwood this fall, finished 8th out of 20 in the boys’ five-and-six-year-old category with a pull of 19 feet, 7 inches. Sam Rixmann of River Falls finished first with a pull of 23 feet, 2 inches. There were 74 boys and girls ages 12 and under who competed in the fair’s free pedal tractor pull.

New platbooks to be available at fair
Purchasing an official 2010 Pierce County Platbook helps to support 4-H Youth Development programs for nearly 1,000 Pierce County youth in grades K through one year past high school.

Got talent? You're needed at the Fair!
Organizers of the Pierce County Fair Talent Show are seeking persons to take part in the one-hour event. Entertainers who sing, play an instrument, speak dramatic readings, juggle, dance, and perform magic tricks and more from each area city will appear during different time slots. River Falls contestants will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.
