Last Sunday was a beautiful spring day. Hiking in to do some trout fishing was like a walk in the park. We didn’t have to battle the tall stinging nettles, reed canary grass and water parsnip of summer.
At a time when citizens most need inexpensive entertainment, budget cuts threaten the wellbeing of Hoffman Park’s outdoor ice-skating rinks. As the financial allotment for parks and recreation shrinks, the challenge to maintain the rinks grows.
Hoffman Park: If you’re the Parks & Recreation Department, what better place to go if you’re forced to relocate?

On Monday, July 7, Parks & Recreation will shift its office from the confines of the soon-to-be demolished Ingram Center to the “octagon shelter” at Hoffman Park.
