River Falls native Maria Lamb overcame an injury suffered during training to finish 15th in the Ladies’ 5,000-meter speed skating event last Wednesday at the Richmond Olympic Oval at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
River Falls native Maria Lamb finished 15th in the Ladies’ 5,000-meter speed skating event with a time of 7 minutes, 25.15 seconds at the Richmond Olympic Oval Wednesday in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
The BlackCats U14 girls’ hockey team had a special visitor during its Ponytail Tournament over the weekend when two-time Olympic hockey player Karyn Bye Dietz stopped by to sign autographs and offers some tips. Bye Dietz, front row center, also brought along her Olympic gold medal from 1998 and silver medal from 2002 for the girls to see.
Many in River Falls will tune in to see what happens during the 2008 Olympic Summer Games, that special time every four years when the world’s elite athletes compete. Gold medal winners come away with the ultimate in coveted titles.
Aislinn Pomfret, who will be a freshman at River Falls High School this fall, ran the third leg for the Team Woodbury (Minn.) 4 X 800 meter relay team that earned an eighth place medal at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic National Championships July 22-27 in Omaha, Neb.
