The Wisconsin DNR met last week and approved a land donation from the Kinnickinnic River Land Trust of 158 acres in the town of Clifton, south of County Road FF and the Kinnickinnic River. The land will be called the Manion Wildlife Habitat Area.
Representatives from Kinnickinnic River Land Trust (KRLT) accepted the 2009 Land Trust of the Year Award from the Gathering Waters Conservancy at that group’s annual conservation leadership awards ceremony in Madison over the weekend.
The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust celebrated its inaugural barn dance Sat. Sept. 12 with 150 friends and donors and a guest from the Gathering Waters Conservancy who announced that KRLT earned the organization’s statewide 2009 Wisconsin Land Trust of the Year Award.
The DNR announced last week that the River-Falls-based Kinnickinnic River Land Trust applied for a 50 percent matching grant from the DNR’s Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program that would enable it to buy 112 acres along the river in the town of Kinnickinnic, St. Croix County.
