Sophomore running back Taylor Edwards ran for 246 yards and two touchdowns and UW-River Falls’ picked off five passes and returned two for touchdowns as the Falcon football team made for a happy homecoming with a 40-27 victory over Alma College (Mich.) Saturday at David Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
Five different Falcons scored goals and goaltender Cassi Campbell made 29 saves, including some big stops late in the game, as the UW-River Falls women’s hockey team won the NCHA’s O’Brien Cup Championship with a 5-3 victory over UW-Stevens Point Sunday afternoon at Hunt Arena.

The UW-River Falls football team missed a golden opportunity to move within a half-game of conference leader UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon when it came out on the short end of a 29-19 decision to UW-Stout at Ramer Field.

Former UW-River Falls football player Owen Schmitt was drafted in the fifth round of the National Football League draft by the Seattle Seahawks Sunday.
Schmitt, who left UW-RF after his freshman season and became a three-year starter at fullback at West Virginia, was the 163rd overall pick in the draft.
