Global explorer and St. Croix Valley resident Ann Bancroft delivered the keynote address at Friday’s opening session of a three-day Rotary District 5960 conference that drew 500 Rotarians to the UW-River Falls University Center.
Many people agree on counting the Kinnickinnic River as a precious local resource. Few people think of the “Kinni” as being part of the St. Croix River Basin watershed, but a Thursday, April 16, conference spotlights the basin.
First-year Wildcat hockey coach Nick Jenkins has been named the Big Rivers Conference Coach of the Year while senior Ross Andersen is the conference’s Player of the Year.
The 2008-09 BRC Hockey All-Conference team was released Friday afternoon. In addition to Andersen on the First Team, senior Luke Jenkins was named to the Second Team and senior Pat Durhman received Honorable Mention.
Area educators will be able to take part in an interactive nature exploration workshop Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the new University of Wisconsin-River Falls University Center on the banks of the Kinnickinnic River.
Wildcat sophomore Carly Jerry won the all-around title and the Wildcat gymnastics team turned in strong performances in its last two events to hold off Eau Claire and win the Big Rivers Conference tournament Friday in Eau Claire to claim its fifth title in six years.
