A memorial service for George R. Field, chancellor of UW-River Falls until 1985, will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls. Field, 82, died Friday, Feb. 10th at United Hospital in St. Paul following a short illness.
With a starting lineup that features four sophomores and a freshman, and a roster that includes just two seniors, UW-River Falls men’s basketball coach Jeff Berkhof knew his team would have to grow up fast if it wanted to compete in the always-tough WIAC this season.
UW-River Falls Agricultural Economics Professor Nate Splett, who also serves as the associate dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, has been selected for a Teaching Excellence Award by the UW System Board of Regents.
The UW-River Falls women’s basketball team finished the 2007-2008 season with an 8-18 overall record and a 2-14 WIAC record. This season, the Falcons look to several new faces to improve on those records.

International Education Week, held Monday through Friday, Nov. 17-21, at UW-River Falls and on college campuses across the nation, is designed to showcase international activities of faculty, staff and students.
With snow not yet falling, many students at UW-River Falls are already thinking of spring break. They won’t be flying off to Cancun or Daytona Beach, but they will be helping those in need through the UW-RF program “Destination: Spring Break,” an organization that provides students with a challenging and fun opportunity to lead and learn through active service experiences.

Three years can be such a short time. That’s especially true when evaluating the brief tenure of UW-River Falls Chancellor Don Betz, who will leave his post at the school year’s end for another college position in his home state of Oklahoma.
It only happens about once every 10 years, and “it” is going on here right now. Begun in 2005, UW-River Falls soon completes a self-study process that campus officials hope will lead to re-accreditation. This includes gathering feedback from people in the community.
The St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra will feature dancers Torrion Amie and Mari Klein in an evening of dance music at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 10 at Kleinpell Fine Arts building on the campus of UW-River Falls.
