The Kinnickinnic Kids Special Olympics team are finishing up another successful bowling season. The bowling team consists of 20 athletes from River Falls, Hudson, New Richmond and surrounding areas.

After five years, look who’s back at the bowling alley
Dave Branigan of River Falls has returned as owner of St. Croix Lanes, 1153 Saint Croix St. He sold the bowling alley five years ago and reclaimed it this week. The place is closed now but preparations are underway to reopen.
Branigan’s goal is to have the bowling alley open for business Monday afternoon, July 30

On Jan. 21 the Knights of Columbus sponsored a bowling tournament for young bowlers at St. Croix Lanes in River Falls. Josh Amundsen took first place overall with a 719 series and received a plaque with his name on it displayed there.

Top bowlers
The Sturgis View Campground team prevailed at the three-team roll-off of the Wednesday night Ladies City League last week at St. Croix Lanes. It’s the third year in a row the team, formerly Bo’s ’N Mine, has taken the league title. Sturgis View Campground finished with a total of 3,000 pins while Sidetrack Saloon totaled 2,937 and EconoFoods finished with 2,847.

Well-earned
Jackie Wateski of River Falls received a trophy from the United State Bowling Congress last Wednesday night at the Ladies Cities League annual banquet. Wateski bowled 11 strikes in a row earlier this year on her way to a score of 298. She was also honored for high series scratch (721), high game with handicap (324) and high series with handicap (799). Linda Phillipps was also honored for 11 strikes in a row as well as high average (196) and most improved average (plus-12).

The Ladies City Bowling League held its roll-off last Wednesday night at St. Croix Lanes between the top two teams from the regular season. The team from Bo’s ’N Mine, defeated County Line Agency 3,019 pins to 2,919 to win the league championship for the second straight year.
