A two-day volunteer project at Ezekiel Lutheran Church will culminate in a Scandinavian Bake Sale and Christmas Team from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Open to the public, the gathering for food and refreshments will take place in the church's Fellowship Hall. Guests can use the front-door entrance from Second Street.

I was reading Joe Eels’ recent letter on religion leading us astray. I noticed that he was not referring to the religions of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, socialism or environmentalism, but was only referring to Christianity.

Good Shepherd Christian Academy, an independent, nondenominational, parent-run school just northeast of River Falls on Hwy. 65 will close its K-8 program at the end of this school year. Next fall Good Shepherd will only serve grades 9-12, and that high school program will shift to Hudson at a yet-to-be named site.
The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation wants state Assembly Speaker Rep. Mike Huebsch, R-West Salem, to stop opening daily sessions of the Assembly with a prayer or sermon from members or invited clergy.
