River Falls Days goes retro
The annual summer festival River Falls Days kicks off Thursday July 8 and concludes Sunday July 11 with a fireworks display at dusk high over Hoffman Park.
“We hope there’s enough variety that everyone can join in and have a good time,” said Chamber of Commerce Director Rosanne Bump.
Kinnistock is a play on the famous 1969 music festival Woodstock.

Fred Riehle, 91, dies Monday at Eagan, Minn.
Fred Riehle, former owner of the River Falls Motel and later, a repairman at Lund's Hardware and community volunteer, died Monday, April 19 at Caring Bridges of Eagan following a short illness. He was 91.

‘Academy Winds’ visit UW-RF, perform concert
The seven-member Academy Winds ensemble, attached to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Col., played to about 300 people Monday evening as part of a week-long Wisconsin tour that included an afternoon teaching sessions with music students at UW-River Falls.

Relay fundraiser nears goal
Over 900 people attended the American Cancer Society’s 2010 Relay for Life at River Falls High School Friday night. Ninety-three local cancer survivors walked in the survivor’s lap to kick off the evening and supporters purchased about 275 luminarias to honor and remember loved ones who battled the disease.

UPDATE: Girls' hockey, gymnastics bring home state titles
It' quite an accomplishment for a school to win one state championship in a year. River Falls won two in one day Saturday.
The St. Croix Valley Fusion won their second straight state girls' hockey title in Madison Saturday afternoon, while the River Falls High School gymnastics team won its second championship in four years at the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids a few hours later.
Both teams will be welcomed back to River Falls with a parade on Main Street Sunday at noon.
