River Falls OKs ATV routes; may eventually open up whole town

The River Falls Town Board voted Monday, Oct. 3, to allow yearly all-terrain vehicle use from May 1 to Oct. 31 on 720th Street. Earlier the board had OK'd a six-month trail period for ATV use. Having heard no citizen complaints, the board went ahead and made the usage permanent.

She won for Roman

There was a new winner at the tractor pull at the annual Harvest Fest held recently at Kusilek’s Hillside Farm. Janice Pechacek drove for the first time and took first place against eight experienced pullers, including her husband. Her father, the late local farmer Roman Pechacek, died in November due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. His birthday would have been Aug. 30 and Janice wanted to honor his memory by participating in something Roman loved, so she wore his “John Deere” pulling shirt, his “John Deere” cap and drove his John Deere tractor in the event he loved.

What’s new at your school?

With the 2011-12 school year fast approaching, students in River Falls are buying supplies to prepare. They aren’t the only ones preparing. The River Falls schools are gearing up for the new school year too, and there are new programs, new staff, and more at each.

River Falls town resident wants better road upkeep

The River Falls Town Board listened at its July 5 meeting while Wade Frevert, W10042 690th Ave., criticized the town’s road maintenance. “Other townships do 60 loads (of patching), you do two,” Frevert told the board, adding the quality of the town’s road was deteriorating.
