The River Falls Wildcats Peewee 2B hockey team became state champs by defeating Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells at a St. Patrick's weekend tournament in Rhinelander March 16-17.

Wunrow picked for WFCA All-Star Game
Eric Wunrow’s senior season of football didn’t go exactly as he had hoped. Just as he was recovering from a broken collar bone suffered early in the season he had an appendectomy that sidelined him even further.

Three wrestlers named All-BRC
Senior Nathan Kinneman and juniors Sebastian Larson and Zach Radkey-Pechacek have all been named to 2012-13 All-Big Rivers Conference wrestling teams.
Kinneman and Larson both earned spots on the second team while Radkey-Pechacek received honorable mention.

Kevin Black named Wildcat wrestling coach
One of the biggest names in local wrestling history is coming back to coach his old team.
Kevin Black, the only four-time state champion ever at River Falls High School, has been hired as the Wildcats’ new head wrestling coach, according to school district activities director Rollie Hall.

The River Falls gymnastics team won the Division 2 state title and Wildcat senior Riley Claude won state titles in the all-around and uneven bars for the second straight season at the WIAA Gymnastics Championships Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, in Wisconsin Rapids.

Defending champs end Wildcats’ season
After avenging a four-point regular season loss to Holmen with a 59-38 victory in last Friday’s WIAA regional semifinal in Holmen, the Wildcat boys’ basketball team couldn’t pull off a repeat performance against defending state champion and No. 1 ranked Onalaska Saturday.

Gymnasts make it 14 straight to state
The tradition continues.
The Wildcat gymnastics team, under first-year coaches Rachel Paulson and Lauren Brathol, qualified for its 14th straight WIAA State Gymnastics Tournament Friday, Feb. 22 by finishing second at the sectional meet in River Falls.

After throttling Baron/Chetek, 8-2, in a WIAA regional semifinal at home last Tuesday, Feb. 12. the Wildcat hockey team picked up right where it left off in the regional final in Superior Feb. 14, jumping out to a 2-0 lead.

Cats’ OT win over rivals creates instant classic
he Wildcat boys’ basketball team scored just four points in the first half Friday, Feb. 15 in Hudson and trailed 17-4 before storming back to win in overtime, 52-43.

The Wildcat boys’ basketball team couldn’t hold on to a third quarter lead against top-ranked Onalaska last Tuesday but came back with victories over New Richmond and St. Paul Highland Park later in the week.

Gymnasts regular season BRC champs
The Wildcat gymnastics team picked a good time to put together its best score of the season last Thursday, Feb. 7.
In the final Big Rivers Conference dual meet between the only two remaining undefeated teams in the conference, the Wildcats defeated Rice Lake/Cumberland 138.975 to 136.75 to clinch the regular season BRC championship.
