River Falls police pinched a 40-year-old Hudson man for his fourth drunk driving violation last Wednesday around 12:30 a.m. The man’s excuse: He was pursuing another driver for sexual impropriety with a 17-year-old girl.
A 42-year-old River Falls woman was arrested Friday afternoon for beating up her teenage daughter at home. The woman said the girl had stolen $5, was behaving badly and had punched a hole in a door. Police say the woman’s attempt to subdue the daughter was excessive and that she made statements saying she could have killed the girl but spared her life.
Police say a 14-year-old boy who lives in Cudd trailer court, 1450 S. Wasson Lane, will be referred to juvenile court authorities and charged with negligent handling of burning materials. The boy said he accidentally started a blaze in the trailer court Saturday night that charred two adjoining homes.
Last week River Falls police officers arrested and took to jail a 27-year-old local woman for throwing things at her adult sister and allegedly threatening her with a butter knife. The disorderly conduct took place at an apartment in the 1500 block of South Wasson Lane.
A 52-year-old local man who allegedly picked up his son from Rocky Branch Elementary while drunk and then drove away, was chased, caught and subdued by police outside his apartment at 905 State Street last week Thursday afternoon. A citizen bystander assisted the lone officer on the scene. The boy left behind in his father’s car was OK.
A 19-year-old Hastings, Minn., man – allegedly the getaway driver for some amateur burglars -- was caught last week in a foot chase thanks to the jaws of a St. Croix Sheriff’s deputy’s dog. The two collided in the yard in front of 214 W. Cedar St. and the dog hung on until River Falls police officers and the deputy converged.
