Would you break into someone’s car, leave a trail of possessions from that car on the road, sidewalk and stairs leading to an upstairs rental duplex, kick open the door there, splintering the frame, leave the door ajar, go to a front-room couch, fall sleep smelling of booze with your clothes caked in dirt and burrs? River Falls Police deal with phone threat: ‘You better get officers (over here) because I’m going to kill my wife’
Officers responded to that cell phone call just after 8 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. Sheriff deputies from Pierce and St. Croix counties came to assist. Reaching for his chicken, man loses control, rams light pole
River Falls police found a smashed, abandoned Ford Escape and a heavily damaged city light pole across from ShopKo on Paulson Road late Friday night. When officers finally located the 51-year-old local driver at his home, the suspect was described as incoherent and intoxicated. The man did explain that he’d bought a chicken at a gas station and was driving home. The chicken dropped, the man bent to pick it off the floor. Tip jar thief pursued to ShopKo, then chased around the store
It started last Wednesday afternoon with the apparent theft of a tip jar downtown at the Dish and the Spoon café. It ended a little later with the arrest of a 28-year-old Hudson man who was chased around ShopKo and finally nabbed as he tried to sprint for his freedom through the front-exit doors.
