The River Falls U13 boy’s Wildcat traveling soccer team participated in the Olympic-style opening ceremony for the Schwan’s USA Cup, an international soccer tournament held at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., last month. Teams from 25 states and 16 countries took part in the tournament.

Undefeated in Topeka
The St. Croix Soccer U16 Select girls’ soccer team, which includes players from River Falls, Hudson, and Stillwater, Cottage Grove, Woodbury and Hugo, in Minnesota, won all three of its games at the Kansas Showcase in Topeka June 24-25 by scores of 3-1, 2-1 and 3-0. The team now has its sights set on finishing a strong season of league play, where it is currently in first place with a record of 8-1-1.

Wildcats fall in state soccer quarterfinals
The Wildcat girls’ soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Kimberly in double overtime Thursday afternoon in a WIAA State Tournament quarterfinal game at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
Sandra Meyer scored the River Falls’ goal at 66:27 to tie the score, 1-1, and after one scoreless ten-minute overtime session, Kimberly’s Marlee Buss scored with 1:35 remaining in the second overtime to give the Papermakers the victory.

Second at St. Croix Cup

State bound soccer girls to get state bound sendoff!
The River Falls High School Girls Soccer Team is headed to the state tournament this weekend for the first time in the history of the school -- both boys and girls. Supporters urge people to bring their kids, banners, whistles, etc., for a big sendoff leaving the high school around noon Wednesday, June 15, as the team heads through town to begin its long trip to the state tournament in Milwaukee.

UPDATED: Wildcat soccer clinches first state tourney berth
The Wildcat girls' soccer team earned its first-ever trip to the WIAA State Tournament with a 3-0 victory over D.C. Everest in the sectional final game Saturday afternoon in Wausau.
The Cats will open state tourney play against Kimberly in a quarterfinal game at noon Thursday, June 16, at Uihlein Park in Milwaukee. A sendoff for the team is being planned for Wednesday. Details will be posted when they are finalized.
