People’s persuasion rules: No chickens, cell tower 
People packed into the City Council chambers – so many the city brought in extra chairs – to hear or speak about one of two main issues up for a decision Tuesday: Allowing chickens as pets within the city limits and erecting a cell-phone tower in Mound Park (near where Union and Fourth streets intersect).

Accident victim’s condition improves 
Ellsworth woman Gretchen J. Lange, 44, was listed in fair condition June 14 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Lange was admitted to the hospital and listed as critical following a May 21 two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 65 that killed a River Falls man and injured his wife.
