Cats shine at state track
Yanique Black may have had a chance to contend for a medal at last weekend’s WIAA State Track and Field Championships. Black posted the 10th fastest time in the girls’ 100 meter dash during the three heats of Friday’s qualifying races.

Eight Cats heading to state track
River Falls will have representatives in five individual events and one relay at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships June 5-6 in La Crosse.
Yanique Black, Kali Kramolis and Colin Rogers all won individual championships to lead the Wildcat charge at Friday’s sectional meet in Wausau.

Cats shine at track regional
Twenty Wildcat track and field athletes qualified for Friday’s sectional meet in 16 different events at Tuesday’s regional competition in River Falls.
River Falls’ girls finished third in the regional team standings and the boys took fourth, while the two teams combined for five individual championships.

Colin Rogers and Natalie Powell both won their respective 3200 meter races and Kali Kramolis and Yanique Black each won a championship and had a hand in another at the 2009 Big Rivers Conference Track and Field Championships Tuesday in Hudson.

Incoming RFHS frosh shines at Junior Olympics
Aislinn Pomfret, who will be a freshman at River Falls High School this fall, ran the third leg for the Team Woodbury (Minn.) 4 X 800 meter relay team that earned an eighth place medal at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic National Championships July 22-27 in Omaha, Neb.

UW-River Falls women’s track and field athlete Krista Hasselquist, a senior from Osceola, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team. The team is selected and also sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
