
The River Falls 14U softball team won the championship at the New Richmond Border Battle Tournament June 19-20 by defeating Hudson twice in the championship round. Wildcat senior pitcher Lauren Cernohous capped her high school career by being named to the All-Big Rivers Conference Softball Team for the fourth straight season. Cernohous was named to the All-BRC Second Team for the second straight year this season after earning Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2007 and First Team honors as a sophomore in 2008.

Softball sweeps Stout
The UW-River Falls softball team earned a WIAC sweep at UW-Stout Thursday afternoon.
The Falcons won the first game, 7-2, and the second game, 4-3. UW-RF scored a run in the top of the seventh to get the win in the second game.
The team’s non-conference doubleheader against Ripon was rained out on Saturday.
The Falcons played a WIAC doubleheader at UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday and will play another conference twin bill at Ramer Field against UW-Superior Wednesday.
On Saturday the Falcons play at UW-Oshkosh and on Sunday they are at UW-Whitewater.
In last week’s 7-2 win over Stout, Rose Tusa started on the mound and got the win, working the first six innings and allowing two earned runs and five hits.
Jessica Lundgren finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Patty Olson, Hayley Buchanan and Ashley Goettl were all 2-for-4. Buchanan had two RBI.
In the nightcap, Buchanan led off the top of the seventh with a double down the left field line and Goettl followed with a double to left center to score Buchanan and give the Falcons a 4-3 victory. Tusa picked up the win in relief.
