
River Falls High School boys’ soccer coach Charles Conley and the Wildcat varsity will host the Little Wildcat Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 4 and up Sundays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26, at the high school practice fields by the tennis courts.

The honors keep piling up for Wildcat junior Sarah Vitale following her play during the 2010 girls’ soccer season. Vitale, who was previously named the All-Big Rivers Conference player of the Year, has been named to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-State Second Team and recently earned the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram’s Player of the Year award. Vitale scored 15 goals and dished out 23 assists this season while helping lead the Wildcats to a record of 15-2-4 and the first BRC championship in program history.

Hart Shelton-Davies of River Falls (lower right corner) holds the American Flag at a recent Chicago Fire and AC Milan Soccer Game at Toyota Stadium in Chicago. His Minnesota Thunder Academy U12 East Team was on the field while participating in the Midwest Cup in St. Charles, Ill. His team went on to win the Midwest Cup U12 Boys’ Division. Hart generally plays left midfield. The Minnesota Thunder U12 East team includes representatives from the Twin Cities east metro area and the St. Croix Valley.

Croix Bopray of River Falls helped his U13 C1 Woodbury (Minn.) Royals soccer team win the Maplebrook Invitational Tournament June 4-6. Bopray, back row second from left, had two goals and an assist as the team went 3-0-1 for the tournament. The Royals began play with a 1-1 tie against Arsenal Futbol Club and a 2-0 win over Blaine (Minn.). In the semifinals they defeated the host team, Maplebrook, 3-1. In the finals the Royals had a rematch with the Arsenal Futbol Club, with the Royals coming out on top with a 3-0 score.

Wausau East took a 3-1 halftime lead and the Wildcats were able to close the gap to 3-2 on Ella Bump’s second goal of the game in the second half, but that’s as close as River Falls could get in a WIAA Division 1 sectional final Saturday in Wausau.
Wausau East (18-1-2) advances to face Verona (20-3-0) in a WIAA State Tournament quarterfinal game Thursday in Milwaukee while the Wildcats’ season comes to an end with a record of 15-2-4.

The most successful season in the history of River Falls High School girls’ soccer continues.
The Cats, already Big Rivers Conference and regional champions for the first time ever, are now within one game of reaching the WIAA State Soccer Tournament for the first time after defeating Eau Claire Memorial in a shootout Thursday, June 10, at Wildcat Field.

It might have been more fun to do it with a victory, but Thursday’s scoreless double-overtime tie with Menomonie was enough to give the Wildcat girls’ soccer team its very first Big Rivers Conference championship.
The tie kept the Wildcats undefeated at 8-0-2 in BRC play, 12-0-3 overall, and earned them their first conference title in program history.

Sara Vitale and Ella Bump hooked up for a pair of goals to lead the Wildcat girls’ soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Hudson Thursday night, May 13, to strengthen the Cats’ grip on first place in the Big Rivers Conference.
The victory improved the Wildcats’ record to 7-0-1 in the BRC and moved them four points ahead of both Hudson (5-3-1) and Eau Claire Memorial (5-2-1) in the conference standings.
