Wild Side: The one that got away Joe Lewinski drove us through falling snow to the Minneapolis airport early in the morning on Feb. 15. Later that same day we were back again under the coconut palms in Belize with our friends Bill and Sue Smith and Sandy Linehan of River Falls. We enjoyed some cold Belikan beers and met some of our Belizean friends.

Air quality advisory includes River Falls

The Wisconsin DNR issued an air-quality advisory for particle pollution – a level orange alert, effective through at least 11 p.m. Thursday, March 11. The warning applies to 54 counties including all of Pierce and St. Croix.

Big flakes of snow came down through the fog Sunday morning. It was the last day of a January thaw. Looking out across the valley, we could see only vague outlines of the trees. Snowmobiler crashes, hurt PressPass

A local man driving his snowmobile west of River Falls was thrown from his machine and hurt Saturday night. He was later taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. St. Croix County Sheriff Dennis Hillstead said the crash victim, Gary Moelter, 53, 444 County Road M, sustained lacerations and complained of head and back pain.
