A team from River Falls took first place in the Jack Pine Savage Days Boys 5th and 6th Grade 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Spooner Aug. 7. Team members were, in front, Noah Langer and Brody Reed, and in back, Macguire Flood and Zach Hadzima.

Former UW-RF basketball great Nate DeLong dies
Nate DeLong, the all-time leading scorer in UW-River Falls basketball history, died May 5 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. He was 84.
A gathering in DeLong's honor will be held at noon on Friday, May 14, at the Lumberjack Steakhouse in Hayward.

Tickets on sale Tuesday night for girls sectional
Tickets for Friday night's Wildcat girls basketball sectional game will be on sale Tuesday night from 6-7 p.m. at the high school activities office. Cost is $5 per ticket. Gametime is 6:00 at Wausau West.

Cats can’t climb out of early hole
Nothing went right for the Wildcat boys’ basketball team in the first six minutes of its sectional final at Antigo March 6. By the time River Falls righted the ship they found themselves trailing the top-seeded Red Robins 14-0.

Boys’ hoops advances to regional final
The River Falls boys’ basketball team went on a 15-2 run in the final six minutes to erase a 31-25 deficit and defeat D.C. Everest, 40-33, in a regional semifinal game Tuesday night in River Falls.
The eighth-seeded Cats (18-5) move on to face top-seeded Antigo (21-0) in a regional final game Saturday at 7 p.m. in Antigo.
