The St. Croix County Highway Department will post as required all county trunk highways that show excessive spring breakup, limiting all vehicles except tandem axle trucks to six (6) tons per axle. Vehicles with group axles spaced less than eight (8) feet apart shall not exceed a gross weight of ten (10) tons on the group with any additional axle(s) being allowed three (3) tons each. Vehicles with group axles over eight (8) feet apart shall not exceed limits as specified for Class "B" highways.

Ordinance 2010-01 – An Ordinance to Amend § 14.12.030 C. and 14.12.050; Park and Fire Impact Fees. The ordinance clarifies the expenditure period of ten years and also that payments will be due at the time the building permit is issued.

Pierce County will accept sealed bids for the purchase of one used curbside recycling truck. Bids must by received by mail, or hand delivered, to David Murphy, MRF Supervisor, 707 North Maple Street, P.O. Box 118, Ellsworth WI 54011, no later than 12:00 p.m. on February 26, 2010, in a sealed envelope and clearly marked “Bid – Used Recycling Truck.” The bids will be opened at 2:00 p.m. on March 1, 2010 at the Pierce County Solid Waste Material Recovery Center, Ellsworth, WI. The Pierce County Solid Waste Management Board will review and award the bid on March 17, 2010, 4:30 p.m., at the Solid Waste Material Recovery Center, Ellsworth, WI. Ordinance 2009-15 – Amending Chapter 3.14 of the Municipal Code of the City of River Falls – Room Tax. The ordinance retains the existing five percent room tax rate but amends the allocation of the tourist dollars to 33 percent to the City and 67 percent to the Chamber.

Rabies Vaccination required. The owner of a dog shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian at no later than 5 months of age and re-vaccinated within one year after the initial vaccination. If the owner obtains the dog or brings the dog into this state after the dog has reached 5 months of age, the owner shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies within 30 days after the dog is obtained or brought into the state unless the dog has been vaccinated as evidenced by a current certificate of rabies vaccination from this state or another state. The owner of a dog shall have the dog re- vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian before the date that the immunization expires as stated on the certificate of vaccination or, if no date is specified, within 3 years after the previous vaccination. [Wis. Statutes 95.21 (2)(a)]

PUBLIC NOTICE PressPass

St. Croix County is declaring December 31, 2009, as the last day that County wildlife crop damage assessments can be requested for the 2009 crop year under Wisconsin’s Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Programs. This date is based on the County’s policy for crop damage claim payments on late harvested crops. The policy states: All wildlife damage claims on row crops filed after 90% of the County’s harvest for that crop has been completed, will be denied.
