Letter: Without religion we go astray PressPass

I was reading Joe Eels’ recent letter on religion leading us astray. I noticed that he was not referring to the religions of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, socialism or environmentalism, but was only referring to Christianity.

By Kevin Peterson, Town of Clifton , December 30, 2009

Letter: Again, great response PressPass

The ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary thank everyone who donated to our Hospitalized Veterans Gift Shop and also to Freeman Drug for the use of its window and help.

By Betty Swenson, chairman, VA and R Committee, Town of Kinnickinnic , December 30, 2009

Letter: How entertaining can we be? PressPass

Apparently popular forums for fair and balanced debate have lost any real currency. Accuracy and intellectual honesty are secondary to inflammatory posturing.

By Joshua Davies, Town of River Falls , December 30, 2009

Letter: Follow money trail to find real ‘scoundrels’ PressPass

In a recent letter Peggy Steffl again gives a view based on an ignorant ideological opinion. By dismissing facts supporting climate change she suggests it’s nothing more than an Al Gore Ponzi scheme.

By Bill Coggio, town of Troy , December 30, 2009

Letter: Greedy bankers can go to you know where PressPass

Many Europeans are outraged about the economic collapse that they feel was caused by the biggest bankers and the obscene bonuses that they paid themselves.

By Ray Anderson, River Falls , December 22, 2009

Letter: Climate change? Let Dick Cheney be your guide PressPass

The recent letters denying climate change have gotten more and more shrill, so it may be useful to take a different perspective.

By David Matthews, Town of River Falls , December 22, 2009

Letter: Global warming: ‘First refuge of scoundrels’ PressPass

Al Gore sycophants, such as letter-writer Thomas Smith, hate Fox News and Talk Radio almost as much as vampires hate garlic.

By Peggy Steffl, town of Clifton , December 17, 2009

Letter: Stop drinking water from plastic bottles PressPass

In an effort to reduce waste, lower the carbon footprint and lighten the environmental impact, I would like to see the elimination of all still water in plastic bottles smaller than a gallon removed from all store shelves in our community.

By Trevor McCann, River Falls , December 17, 2009

Fundraising for Pierce County Farm Technology Days continues as we move toward July.

By Beth Ingli, vice-chair, Pierce County Farm Technology Days committee, Elmwood , December 17, 2009

Letter: Travis came to my rescue PressPass

If you know a young man named Travis who was driving to work last Wednesday around 7 a.m. consider yourself lucky to have such a friend or relative.

By Michael O’Connor, town of River Falls , December 17, 2009

Letter: High standards, but we can also improve PressPass

I would like to echo Susan Reese’s comments last week about the wealth of volunteers we have in the city, and how instrumental they were in helping us win first place in the America in Bloom contest.

By Mayor Don Richards, River Falls , October 23, 2009

Letter: So much to be skeptical about PressPass

Skepticism is a good thing and it does appear the U.S. citizenship agrees when it comes to the current Washington, D.C., administration. President Obama’s approval rating has fallen to 45%.

By Bob Britton, Elmwood , September 25, 2009

Trooper, the faithful German Shepherd superdog, passed away July 11, in the arms of owner Mary Jonikas and Dr. Dick Jones-Witthuhn of the Kinni Croix and River Falls Veterinary Clinic.

By Tom and Mary Jonikas, Prescott , August 07, 2009

Letter: Canadian relatives can vouch for their health care PressPass

My great-grandfather emigrated from Sweden with his four adult children to Canada in 1889. My grandfather was the only family member who came to the United States where he met and married my grandmother who had emigrated with her parents from Norway.

By Ray Anderson, River Falls , August 07, 2009

Letter: Who’s running our country? PressPass

One of the most significant barriers standing in the way of affordable universal health care is the way in which powerful lobbyists are crusading on behalf of that portion of the health care industry that is privatized.
