Woman who gets the boot, gives the boot A 22-year-old woman from Minnesota who claims she’s homeless got into a row at Boomer’s Bar downtown after midnight Monday. She was kicked out, then went after the same man she was fighting with in the bar. She allegedly attacked him at closing when he left. Ignoring the woman’s grabbing and punches, the man walked straight toward a patrol officer and asked for help.

Area law enforcement got cooperation from a Cottage Grove, Minn., hotel to perform a prostitution sting that netted nine arrests earlier this month.

According to a Lake Delton police report, officers caught workers making middle-of-the-night repairs to the Wisconsin Dells thrill ride, Terminal Velocity, just hours before a state inspection was to take place. Officers saw lights on in the park and decided to investigate.

Man sentenced for accident that killed a baby PressPass

A Wausau man has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison for killing a six-week-old baby girl when he crashed into an an Amish buggy in Marshfield. During a pre-sentence investigation, 50-year-old Brian Witkus admitted inhaling dust remover from an aerosol can shortly before he caused the crash that killed young Ada Miller of Chili a year ago.

He’s my brother…don’t remind him A 44-year-old local man was arrested and jailed for substantial battery and disorderly conduct Sunday morning after allegedly beating up his 50-year-old brother. The two men live together but clearly weren’t getting along. The older brother, the victim, wound up with a bloody gash above the eye that needed medical attention.

Drunk driver takes out utility pole PressPass

A 19-year-old Hudson man lost control, braked, skidded and spun before finally taking out a St. Croix Electric Cooperative power pole near the east-side Hwy. 35 frontage road and County Road U at 1:20 a.m. Monday. A St. Croix Electric spokesman said 81 area customers lost power overnight from 1 ½ to 7 hours. Two underground wires were sheared when the pole, broken in two places, fell. By 10 a.m. Monday power was restored and cleanup completed. The approximate fix-up bill: $5,000.

River Falls police officers chased a local 27-year-old man who appeared to be masturbating by the EconoFoods recycling bins last Tuesday around 1:30 a.m. The suspect took off and ran down the slope to Lake George through tangled underbrush. There he hid. This occurred after 1:30 a.m. last Tuesday.

Women accused of going after their men with knives PressPass

Two middle-aged River Falls women were taken to jail in the past week for allegedly threatening their male partners with knives. One is even accused of tossing bleach at the male victim’s face. One incident occurred in the 700 block of West Cedar Street, the other in the 1500 block of South Wasson Lane. In both cases the men were unharmed, but one man, who had been lying on the couch, said he had to fight off the woman to protect himself. His shirt got ripped in the process.
