County’s aim: Improve health, awareness 
Hudson Hospital and Clinics and the St. Croix County Public Health Department have compiled a health improvement plan. A summary of that plan was unveiled at a community meeting at Hudson hospital earlier this month.

Miracle baby moves on
Ellery Case was born seven weeks early with life-threatening complications and given only a 5% chance to live. Her mother, Heidi, who grew up in River Falls, says: “Miraculously, Ellery is here today. She’s a beautiful, happy and healthy 15-month little girl. She has battle wounds to show for her rough start, and a 44-day hospital stay, but she is a true miracle.”

Celebrate diversity by donating blood
During Black History Month the American Red Cross celebrates the work of Dr. Charles Drew, African-American blood specialist, surgeon, educator and scientist. He was the first medical director of the first American Red Cross blood bank. His pioneering work in blood collection and transfusion laid the foundation for modern blood banking.

Kudos! They don't sell to minors
The St. Croix County Public Health Department recognized three River Falls businesses for not selling tobacco products to minors during a 2009 inspection check: BP Amoco, 700 N. Main St.; Holiday, 1184 N. Main St.; and Walgreen drug store, 1047 N. Main St. These three on the St. Croix side of the city passed the inspection, while three other local business didn't.

Ripped in River Falls! Fitness pays off for local couple
Intent on achieving better fitness, 38-year-old Kristofer Voiles and 37-year-old Jude Voiles transformed themselves using several different rounds of Beachbody products. An added benefit to the couple’s getting in shape: $11,000.
