RF School District gears up for referendum

At its Sept. 20 regular meeting, the school board will take up the topic of a levy referendum, possibly for spring, that basically makes upgrades and improvements for all the local public schools so they remain functional for 30-40 years.

Westside acting principal awaits OK from school board PressPass

Superintendent Tom Westerhaus has picked Rita Humbert, principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Hastings, Minn., to be acting principal at Westside Elementary School for the 2010-11 year. The school board votes Monday night on the Humbert recommendation. She would replace Mike Ballard, who resigned earlier in the week to take a principal’s job at Paperjack Elementary in his hometown of New Richmond.

National School Lunch, School Breakfast programs’ policies announced PressPass

The School District of River Falls has a family size income scale for determining eligibility for free and reduced meals or milk available for parents of children who are unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program or milk for split-session students served under the Special Milk Program.

Athlete registration at HS Athletics will begin at River Falls High School beginning Aug. 9. Information on when each sport begins and what athletes need to have ready before the first day can either be found on the school’s website at www.rfsd.k12.wi.us/OurDistrict/ACT/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx or at the Activities Office at the high school.
