On May 7 we experienced a multi-vehicle (mock) crash on Cemetery Road.
A thousand of us watched as ambulances from River Falls, Baldwin and Prescott, along with the LifeLink helicopter, fire trucks and multiple police cars did what they do best. We saw EMS professionals, SOS students, school staff and community members all fighting to save lives.

Bad enough that winter weather has drifted into spring. Now the school year may drift into summer vacation for River Falls students. School administrators have proposed adding two more "student days" to the official calendar year.
The regularly scheduled meeting of the River Falls Board of Education was called to order on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 7:05 p.m. by President Johnson Myers in the River Falls District Office conference room, 852 E Division Street.
Jamie Benson, a superintendent for 15 years at River Valley School District near Madison, has tentatively accepted an offer from the River Falls school board to be the local district’s next superintendent. Benson would succeed Tom Westerhaus who is retiring as River Falls superintendent at the end of June after five years.
“Pippi Longstocking,” “Little House on the Prairie,” and “Because of Winn Dixie” are the latest reads for a local book club started by a group of Greenwood Elementary School third graders -- Emily Odegard, Lily Mason, Emma Creen, Chloe Grenzow, Lily Schartau, and Olivia Usgaard.
River Falls high school seniors in a Life Skills class started in 2011 to Flip It Forward, an exercise in which they collaborate with students from other schools to break down barriers and highlight the students’ similarities.
The school board and its superintendent advisory committee interviewed seven candidates for the job of school superintendent. School Board president Stacy Johnson Myers said three finalists have been picked: Barry Cain, Ellsworth Community School District superintendent; Donald Haack, Spooner Area School District; and James Benson, River Valley School District in Spring Green.

The River Falls School District’s Senior Tax Exchange Program (STEP) was piloted at Rocky Branch Elementary School in fall 2011 with 15 volunteer participants. Now the popular program has spread to all the schools, including Montessori and Renaissance, and has 28 participants.
