UW-River Falls is seeking employer participation for its 19th annual Career Fair set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the University Center on campus.

City denies noise waiver for exhaust contest
David Hanson, a UW-River Falls student with a passion for automobiles, plans to hold a car show in the Q parking lot of the university (near Third Street and North Hall) 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.
Hanson came before the City Council at its last meeting, saying, “We want a noise exemption to have our loud-exhaust competition.”

UW health research project visits River Falls, townships this month
Beginning now and through September, survey teams from the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW), will visit households in the city of River Falls and the towns south of the city including Oak Grove, River Falls and Trimbelle.

Residential parking permits available soon
For those living just north of UW-River Falls, new residential parking permits can be had at the police station, 125 E. Elm St., staring the week of August 16. The permits are free and good for a year. The go into effect Sept. 1 and can be obtained from 2-4 p.m. Mondays and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.

Crafted crop circles
Students in the Upward Bound program at UW-River Falls recently designed and constructed crop circles as part of a mathematics/surveying/map-making unit. This design was created recently on a four-acre field at the home of UW-RF biology Professor Brad Mogen.

Roger Ternes, Dickinson State (N.D.) University athletic director for the last 11 years, has been named to the same position at UW-River Falls according to Chancellor Dean Van Galen.
