Heavy fog, near-zero visibility leads to chain-reaction crash
Five vehicles got banged up in Thursday morning's dense fog on County Road FF west of Hwy. 29 in the town of River Falls. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, a 1989 Chevy truck driven by Steven Meads of rural River Falls was eastbound on FF when he swerved to avoid another car, also eastbound, that suddenly appeared in the fog ahead. Letter: Cutting Japanese an unwise decision 
I thank the numerous citizens who spent many hours of their time on the strategic planning effort for the River Falls School District. As a parent of a daughter in the Japanese program, I was pleased to see identified the importance of foreign language and expansion of languages into the K-12 curriculum.

The Town of River Falls Ad Hoc Committee will meet on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the River Falls Town Hall, W9015 770th Ave. The committee will work on the town Farmland Preservation Plan. A quorum of town board members may be present at this meeting for informational purposes.

River Falls puts Boles on top 
Pierce County judge candidate Joe Boles had roughly a 6-1 vote advantage in River Falls over Bob Loberg to finish first in the three-way primary contest Tuesday. The other candidate, Pierce County District Attorney John O’Boyle, finished a distant third and was eliminated. Boles, an attorney from River Falls, and Loberg, an attorney from Ellsworth, will square off in the April 6 general election. Current Judge Robert Wing is retiring after 25 years on the bench.
