Harvest Moon Barn Dance to benefit cancer care is Oct. 2
The River Falls Area Hospital Foundation’s fifth annual Harvest Moon Barn Dance will be on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Westridge Farms, just west of River Falls. The event will again benefit the foundation’s “Access to Care” fund, with a special focus on expanding access to cancer care services at River Falls Area Hospital and throughout the region.

Pull!
Sunday afternoon 5-year-old Brian Johnson of River Falls pumps away in the Pierce County Fair Pedal Tractor Pull. Johnson, the son of Sandra Rohl and who will be a kindergartner at Greenwood this fall, finished 8th out of 20 in the boys’ five-and-six-year-old category with a pull of 19 feet, 7 inches. Sam Rixmann of River Falls finished first with a pull of 23 feet, 2 inches. There were 74 boys and girls ages 12 and under who competed in the fair’s free pedal tractor pull.

Marching band hosts ‘Drill Grill’ event
The annual River Falls High School marching band’s “Drill Grill” will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the high school fields.

Gridiron club plans car wash Aug. 21
The River Falls Wildcat Gridiron Club will host a car wash fundraiser to raise money for the football program at the high school. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, on the Dick’s Fresh Market parking lot. For more information, send an e-mail to azimmerman@sajan.com.

Class of 1960 holds reunion this week 
The River Falls Class of 1960 will hold its 50th reunion Friday and Saturday, Aug. 20 and 21. All classmates and their friends are invited to attend.

Benefit for Jimmy Dee this Saturday
An Aug. 14 benefit to help pay staggering medical bills for Jimi Dee (James David Hansen) will be held at the Dave Kusilek’s Hillside Farm W10175 690th Ave. (at the intersection with County Road E off Hwy. 29). The Kusilek farm is also the site of the annual three-day HarvestFest, with a threshing bee, held the week before Labor Day.

Threshing tradition continues for the 25th year
A free barn dance, tractor parade, threshing, and potluck lunch are highlights of the annual threshing bee held on the old Bob Bjerstedt farm (now grandson Jeremy Dickson’s) on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21-22.
