Fighting Fish to open WBA playoffs in Osceola
The 2012 Wisconsin Baseball Association playoff field is set and the defending state champion River Falls Fighting Fish earned one of eight No. 1 seeds and will travel to Osceola for the WBA semifinal round Aug. 11-12. The Fish will take on the Bruce Belters in a first round game Saturday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. at Oakey Park.

The end of the season for the River Falls American Legion Post 121 baseball team wrapped up Saturday, July 21. The first game was against Stillwater 19U on Tuesday, July 17. Stillwater beat River Falls Post 121 by a score of 9-5. Starting for River Falls was Dylan Kusilek.

River Falls police respond to fight, discover stash of pot, mushrooms
After investigating a fight between an 18-year-old male tenant and two strangers, officers arrested the tenant for possession of psilocybin (hallucinogenic) mushrooms, marijuana with intent to deliver, and drug paraphernalia Friday night, June 15, at a rental unit at 233 W. Cascade Ave. The two male assailants got away. Police suspect the fighting may have been about a drug deal gone bad.
