Man claims his female roommate attacked him because he might have soiled the couch
A 20-year-old local man said he was driven from his apartment by the woman he shares living space with. He said she came home at 5 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, and went into a fury because he was sleeping on her couch. The man said he was scratched on the neck by her fingernails. He was later found, without jacket or shoes, at the corner of Main and Maple streets. River Falls police say the man was so distraught that he was almost hyperventilating

River Falls police dragnet seeks to contain bovine escapees
While not considered armed and dangerous, police officers had their hands full for two hours Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11, after two stray cows were spotted at DeSanctis Park. The heifer and calf apparently came from the Paul Haskins farm just west of the city. When officers got to the park, the cow suspects had hoofed on.

River Falls police had to separate two screaming brothers and jail them for domestic disorderly conduct in their Church Street apartment Sunday evening, Nov. 4. The one brother, age 27, was sleeping on the living room couch. His 21-year-old brother asked him to give him and his girlfriend a ride to ShopKo. The older brother agreed but then went right back to sleep. The other brother, expecting the ride, didn't like that.

Pedestrian killed near Roberts identified; 36-year-old driver in custody
An 84-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car just after 3 p.m. east of Roberts on County Road TT, between 130th and 140th streets. The striking vehicle fled the scene but sheriff's deputies spotted the suspect car and arrested the driver, Robert C. Boles, in Hudson about 20 minutes later.

River Falls police arrested and cited a 20-year-old UWRF student for obstruction and underage drinking after midnight Sunday, Sept. 16, in the 200 block of East Elm Street. The student, allegedly urinating on the sidewalk while holding a glass bottle of Premium Grain Belt beer, took off running and temporarily got away. He tossed and broke his beer bottle on the sidewalk. Later, at the police station, he explained that he used to run track in high school and believed he could still outrun any police officer.

Downtown: Man jumps from awning, tangles with River Falls officer who gets hurt
In June a young man was on the rooftop above Steve’s Pizza Palace on Main Street and ended up falling through the metal awning to the sidewalk below. On Friday, Sept. 7, just after midnight, a 20-year-old UW-River Falls student slipped out the window of an apartment above Curves for Women on the other side of Main Street, landed on the awning, walked on it and eventually jumped to the sidewalk below. There he was met by a patrolling officer who had asked that he ease himself down.

While living at Hoffman Park, girlfriend apparently beat up by boyfriend
River Falls police arrested a 36-year-old Oklahoma man living at the Hoffman Park campground for domestic battery and bail jumping Monday night, Aug. 27. The alleged victim was the man’s 34-year-old girlfriend. She was found near the park’s softball field. She was all bloody and had a swollen face and cut lip.
