A Minnesota man who just moved to River Falls was arrested by police for breaking into an upstairs duplex in the 200 block of North Ninth Street and making off with an overnight leather bag that had nail polish, mascara, lip gloss, women’s underwear and more. Some items, including high-heeled shoes, spilled out and left a trail leading to where the man was found crouching in the corner of the fenced-in backyard.

The student, allegedly urinating on the sidewalk while holding a glass bottle of Premium Grain Belt beer, took off running and temporarily got away. He tossed and broke his beer bottle on the sidewalk. Later, at the police station, he explained that he used to run track in high school and believed he could still outrun any police officer.

In June a young man was on the rooftop above Steve’s Pizza Palace on Main Street and ended up falling through the metal awning to the sidewalk below. On Friday, Sept. 7, just after midnight, a 20-year-old UW-River Falls student slipped out the window of an apartment above Curves for Women on the other side of Main Street, landed on the awning, walked on it and eventually jumped to the sidewalk below. There he was met by a patrolling officer who had asked that he ease himself down.
