Halloween weekend in River Falls: Little Red Riding Hood lashes out
Metaphorically speaking, it was a negative role reversal. River Falls police were called to a disturbance at Boomer’s Bar, 106 N. Main St., around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. There, they learned that a 45-year-old local woman dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and carrying a small wicker basket with a fake wolf’s head allegedly slapped a younger woman in the face.

River Falls police say it ended with the couple arguing and then the man not only choking the woman, but also biting her, slapping her, banging her head and pulling her hair. The woman fled to Cottage Grove, Minn., and reported the incident to police there who contacted River Falls police.

Walking to Empower
About 207 people attended the 2011 Walk to Empower domestic violence awareness event in Prescott on Saturday, Oct. 8. The two-mile walk was sponsored by Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence of River Falls and hosted by the Prescott Police Department and the great River Road Learning Center. It began and ended at Freedom Park and also served as a fundraiser. The walk raised $11,016. For more information, call Kim Wojcik, executive director, at 715-425-6751, ext. 101.
