Schaffhausen witness was collared with two knives near courtroom
Bond was set at $50,000 cash Monday for an Andover, Minn. man who was in possession of two knives Friday outside a courtroom at the St. Croix County Government Center. According to the criminal complaint, a psychiatric nurse told authorities the man had told her earlier that morning that he was experiencing "vague homicide thoughts".

River Falls Eco Village dedicated
A crowd of about 100 turned out for the Sunday afternoon, April 7, dedication of the Eco Village in River Falls, 114 S. Apollo Road. Phase One of the Eco Village, four twin homes, is nearly completed and the homeowners will soon be moving in. Two more phases will be completed for this St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity environmental home building project by the end of 2014.

With the 2003 Iraq invasion beginning the war was hitting home. The River Falls Journal was putting together a special on area soldiers, beginning with local flyer U.S. Navy Lt. David “Raz” Rasmussen, a 1990 River Falls High School graduate, serving aboard the USS Kitty Hawk flying a FA-18 hornet over Iraq. Thanks to modern technology, the interview with editor Phil Pfuehler was done via email between flights.
