A woman jumped from the east-bound side of the Hudson Bridge at approximately 8:30 a.m. Thursday and died at the scene. The woman has been identfied as a 48-year-old Molly Crumley of River Falls.

A 47-year-old rural River Falls man was picked up after allegedly trying to walk out of Family Fresh Market, 303 S. Main St., without paying for $229 worth of packaged meat -- beef rib eye and lobster! The man, who was with his son, allegedly had his prepackaged order from the meat department stashed away. He paid for a few other items at the checkout lane, then returned for the packaged meat. He placed that in his cart and away he went outside before being detained.

An open 911 line with people on one end talking about being intoxicated and hoping police wouldn't catch them led to the arrest of a 21-year-old River Falls man for drunk driving at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. A Pierce County Sheriff's dispatcher monitored the 911 call, perhaps made accidentally, by a passenger in the man's car. The car was tracked by the sheriff's department's GPS and River Falls police were notified.
