Royal court, candidates prepare for Ambassador contest
The River Falls Royal Ambassadors often attend other “coronations” in the area to support their counterparts in other cities and towns. The current ambassadors, along with this year’s candidates, went together June 9 to an event in Baldwin, stopping into McDonald’s after the event to have snacks and goof off in Playland.

Two drivers arrested after joyride felled trees and sent residents scrambling
River Falls police finally caught up with two male suspects in a reckless driving incident Saturday night on the city’s south side in the Greenwood Valley Drive area. A 31-year-old River Falls man was arrested for drunk driving-second offense. He allegedly kept careening his Hummer off and on the road, across yards, over trees, into utility junction boxes. Adults outside at the time said it was miracle no one was hit and killed, including children.

Westbound I-94 east of Hudson was closed for six hours on Thursday, June 7, in the wake of a five-vehicle crash involving two semi tractor-trailers. Just one person, Mary A. Kielpinski, 63, of Eau Claire was seriously injured in the accident.
