Outdoor fires now banned in River Falls area
River Falls Fire Chief Scott Nelson says the region is under a Fire Watch Weather Area due to the excessive heat, lack of rain and high winds. Because of these conditions, the city and many surrounding towns have implemented a fire ban immediately.

On Sunday, Aug. 5, the Kinnickinnic Historic Church hosted its annual ice cream social as it does every first Sunday in August. Everyone was invited to enjoy pie and cake and ice cream, to hear live music from the church’s antique pump organ and local musicians, and to share the company and conversation of friends and neighbors.

St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity has certainly outdone itself by starting to build not only a cluster of new houses aimed at low-income families, but also houses that will be made of recycled building materials, that use solar and geothermal energy, and that reuse rain/storm water for gardening and indoor needs.
