SECOND UPDATE: Father booked on first degree counts of homicide in the deaths of his daughters
About two hours after he allegedly killed his three children at the home where he once lived, a former River Falls man turned himself in to police at their station, soon after officers had begun searching for him. Aaron Schaffhausen, 34, was booked into St. Croix County Jail at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, on three counts of first degree intentional homicide.

River Falls police respond to fight, discover stash of pot, mushrooms
After investigating a fight between an 18-year-old male tenant and two strangers, officers arrested the tenant for possession of psilocybin (hallucinogenic) mushrooms, marijuana with intent to deliver, and drug paraphernalia Friday night, June 15, at a rental unit at 233 W. Cascade Ave. The two male assailants got away. Police suspect the fighting may have been about a drug deal gone bad.

June is living up to its reputation as the summer stormy season. Early morning Tuesday, June 19, another storm barreled through western Wisconsin, dumping heavy rain, some hail and triggering continuous lightning and thunder. City of River Falls warning sirens sounded at 4:50 a.m. Some trees and big branches were knocked down. Public Works crews are cleaning up the mess.
