An 84-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car just after 3 p.m. east of Roberts on County Road TT, between 130th and 140th streets. The striking vehicle fled the scene but sheriff's deputies spotted the suspect car and arrested the driver, Robert C. Boles, in Hudson about 20 minutes later.

Two drivers were seriously hurt and had to be extricated following a near head-on crash just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on the Hwy. 65/35 bypass a half mile south of the East Division Street. Afterward the bypass was closed until early afternoon. River Falls police have cited one of the drivers, David Kirscht, 24, Garfield, Minn., for inattentive driving and operating left of center.

An eastbound moped driver skidded on his side to avoid a collision on Cemetery Road by River Falls High School as a 17-year-old girl was pulling out of the student parking lot. A collision was avoided, but the moped driver, 71-year-old Richard E. Boehner, 1450 S. Wasson Lane #82, was taken away by ambulance for what was officially described as "incapacitating injuries."
