Hwy. 35 crash results in injury, citation
The commute home to River Falls at the intersection of southbound Hwy. 35 and Radio Road was slowed late Tuesday afternoon, May 14, by a car vs. motorcycle collision. The injured motorcyclist, Michael D. Fisher, Jr., 33, Hammond, was heading south toward River Falls when a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Katie L. Anderson, 20, River Falls, allegedly failed to yield from a stop sign while pulling out from Radio Road.

The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust announced the morning of Friday, April 19, that due to the weather, it has postponed the annual cleanup event scheduled for Saturday, April 20. The tentative new date is Saturday, April 27.

Colossal earthen dams up to 50 stories high built in a known earthquake zone are supposed to hold back some 10 billion tons of mining waste mixed with cyanide, sulfuric acid, arsenic and other toxic chemicals.

Greenwood sure knows how to party
Greenwood Elementary School is steeped in tradition. Except for the River Falls Academy, it’s the oldest local school building, turning 58 this year. Greenwood is also known for its annual winter carnival, one that goes back to around 1970 -- more than 40 years ago. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 23, it’s time again for the games to begin as the 2013 school carnival is held.
