Editorial: Affordable housing project made better by the color green
St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity has certainly outdone itself by starting to build not only a cluster of new houses aimed at low-income families, but also houses that will be made of recycled building materials, that use solar and geothermal energy, and that reuse rain/storm water for gardening and indoor needs.

Editorial: Little village serves up big, appetizing lessons
Sunday’s dedication for the opening of the River Falls Eco Village shines a very favorable spotlight on our community. The St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity building project continues its laudable tradition of not only making affordable homes available for poorer families, but also linking that affordability to the environment — through durable homes built with maximum energy efficiencies; community gardens irrigated by rainwater; renewable energy sources and more.
