River Falls High School Marching Wildcats claimed another first-place ranking in the AAA competition held at UW Whitewater Saturday, Oct. 13, which they followed with a winners’ ride through town on a fire truck. The band delivered a winning performance despite being moved into the field house because of inclement weather.

I thoroughly enjoyed recent Pat Hunter’s column, “Days Gone By: 1965.” I often enjoyed hearing Dave Bergstrom’s various bands as I was growing up here in River Falls. It was good to “catch up” with him and some of his band mates.

They did not even make finals at this regional competition and even though they are used to winning, a core value of this program is successfully focused on helping our children become better people, not just trophy holders.
