Downtown: Man jumps from awning, tangles with River Falls officer who gets hurt
In June a young man was on the rooftop above Steve’s Pizza Palace on Main Street and ended up falling through the metal awning to the sidewalk below. On Friday, Sept. 7, just after midnight, a 20-year-old UW-River Falls student slipped out the window of an apartment above Curves for Women on the other side of Main Street, landed on the awning, walked on it and eventually jumped to the sidewalk below. There he was met by a patrolling officer who had asked that he ease himself down.

Feyereisens celebrate 50th on Aug. 19
Ida and Steve Feyereisen of Hudson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the River Falls American Legion. The couple was married Aug. 4, 1962. They have five children: Dave and Alisa Feyereisen of River Falls, Bob and Janet Feyereisen of Roberts, Dennis and Nancy Feyereisen of River Falls, Lauri and Todd Moreland of Baldwin and Linda and Mike Wagner of Baldwin. They also have 14 grandchildren.

Governor Scott Walker issued an executive order for American flags at state facilities to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Dec. 15, to honor Village of Rothchild Fire Chief Steve Fritz, who died Dec. 10, in his home of a suspected heart attack. Fritz had been chief of the department since 2007.
