Citywide sale maps available Wednesday
The River Falls Band Booster's eighth annual citywide garage sales are being held over River Falls Days Weekend, July 12-14. Maps will be inserted in the Thursday, July 12, print edition of the River Falls Journal. Over-the-counter papers are available Wednesday afternoon at most retail and gas stations in the city.

Wildcat senior Auggie Pupungatoa throws the shot put at the New Richmond Invitational earlier this season. Pupungatoa won the sectional title in the discus last Thursday, May 24, in Rice Lake to qualify for this weekend’s WIAA State Track and Field Championships in La Crosse. Veteran Fighting Fish catcher Joel Schaffer watches his two-run home run head towards the high school soccer practice fields deep beyond the right field fence in the sixth inning of the Fish’s St. Croix Valley Baseball League game against the Hudson River Rats Saturday, June 23. Schaffer’s bomb gave River Falls an 11-4 lead as the Fish went on to close out the River Rats, 14-4, in seven innings.

The Pierce County Health Department reports a dead crow found in Pierce County on July 16 has tested positive for West Nile virus. This is the first bird testing positive for West Nile virus in Pierce County since surveillance for the mosquito-transmitted virus began May 1.
