Don’t show me your doggy doo
A neighbor late last month complained that a 29-year-old man living in the 700 block of High Ridge Road purposely left his kennel filled with animal poop on the edge of their properties. The kennel door was open and facing the offended neighbor’s property. River Falls police were contacted.

Disorderly man gets second chance and blows it -- twice
River Falls police arrested a 26-year-old Roberts man at 3:40 a.m. Sunday at the downtown Holiday store. A clerk there said the man was rude, and opening up and eating packages of beef jerky. Given a chance to pay for this beef jerky consumption, the man allegedly swore at the clerk while paying. Officers on the scene decided that was harassment, and took the man away to the police station for shoplifting and disorderly conduct.

Late Monday night, Sept. 5, tenants at 107 S. Third St. called River Falls police after stumbling upon what looked like a grenade. As officers were met outside the house by a female tenant, an explosion boomed inside.

RF woman cited for abusing recall petitioners on Main Street
A 32-year-old local woman was accused of spitting on a person collecting signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker just before 1 p.m. Sunday at 650 N. Main St. The woman allegedly drove up, stopped, got out of her van, began screaming and swearing, and tossed a table across the sidewalk where people sign the recall petition.

Someone has been stealing aluminum cans from the recycling bin in the St. Bridget Catholic Church parking lot. Church officials estimate the loss from periodic thefts over the past year exceed $1,000.

Grandpa allegedly involved in domestic disturbance at River Falls Motel
Two men, ages 22 and 65, were taken to jail for their alleged role in a battery/disorderly conduct incident at the River Falls Motel, 1300 S. Main St., Sunday at 3:45 p.m. The 22-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend live at the motel. They were in the process of breaking up and arguing about possessions. The young man’s 65-year-old grandfather from New Richmond apparently got in the middle of things and may have gotten physical and threatening with the young woman.

Brawl at UW-RF’s Ramer Field leads to citations
River Falls police cited three young men for their alleged roles in a large-scale scuffle at Ramer Field on the UW-River Falls campus last Friday, July 1, around 3 a.m. The men were part of two groups who were leaving Main Street bars and arguing. The groups agreed to meet at Ramer and duke it out.

Traffic violation, dinged-up vehicles lead to various citations
When a River Falls police officer pulls you over for one thing, it can lead to something else. A 24-year-old Plum City woman allegedly made an illegal U-turn downtown at Main and Walnut streets at 2 a.m. Saturday. When questioned about the U-turn, an officer smelled alcohol coming from her car. The woman ended up with two fines totaling more than $800 – for the illegal turn and for drunk driving.

Wrong way once, going twice
River Falls police say a 20-year-old university man allegedly drove the wrong way on one-way Spring Street just before 1 a.m. Friday. Before he could be pulled over, the suspect turned onto Second Street and was spotted driving north in a southbound lane. Again, before he could be stopped, the driver allegedly turned, bumped over the raised median and crossed into the parking lot of First National Bank. He drove to a parking space and stopped on his own.

Recall petition shredding suspect is not the father of our country
A 53-year-old rural River Falls man is a suspect in a petition-shredding incident last Wednesday, Nov. 23, after 5 p.m., in front of EconoFoods on Main Street. After he pretended to sign a recall for Gov. Scott Walker, the man allegedly jabbed at the petition form with a pen and then ripped the paper. He was confronted by recall petition volunteers. As he walked away, the man gave his name as “George Washington.”

Jilted woman accused of going on rampage
A 21-year-old Crystal, Minn., woman allegedly shattered a window and broke into an apartment after claiming to see her girlfriend sleeping in bed with another woman around 4 a.m. Sunday at 308 S. Winter St. River Falls police stopped the woman outside as she tried to leave. She allegedly was brawling with three other female tenants in the apartment. People were calling 911 for help and because of the noisy disturbance.

Were alleged RF burglars pursuing a drug intervention?
Two men in their mid-40s were taken into custody in connection with an apartment break-in Saturday night, April 21, in the 500 block of South Wasson Lane. One man, who was also arrested outside the apartment building for drunk driving, claimed the pair broke into the second-floor apartment to do a welfare check and a possible drug intervention on the male tenant’s behalf. They had suspicions that he was using meth.

Radar Trailer: Takes a licking but keeps on ticking
Early Monday morning, May 7, it was found that the River Falls Police radar trailer had been pummeled by an array of fruit pieces and pickles. In fact, a broken jar of pickles was recovered nearby. Someone also tried to pry open the trailer door, bending the handle. No matter. An officer found that the device, while dented and coated with pickle juice, was still functioning and reading the speeds of passing vehicles in the 500 block of East Walnut Street.

River Falls cops: Don’t call them amigos and play dumb about English
Say you’re a burglar. Would you break into someone’s car, leave a trail of possessions from that car on the road, sidewalk and stairs leading to an upstairs rental duplex, kick open the door there, splintering the frame, leave the door ajar, go to a front-room couch, fall sleep smelling of booze with your clothes caked in dirt and burrs? Police officers say it was evidence of this sort that led to the arrest of a burglary suspect in the 300 block of North Clark Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

River Falls boys accused of stealing and damaging automobiles
Police say they took seven local teenage boys into custody June 16 for their alleged roles in driving around in stolen vehicles. Some of those vehicles were later found heavily damaged or totaled. Five were stolen in River Falls. Two other stolen vehicles, one from Ellsworth and one from Red Wing, Minn., ended up in River Falls.

A 35-year-old local man kept banging at the door of a house in the 300 block of East Pine Street at 5 a.m. Friday. He wanted in. Those inside the house were scared and wanted him to stay out. River Falls police came to the rescue and handcuffed the man, whom they described as drunk and mostly undressed. His clothes were found strewn in the yard and driveway.

Consider a few: A 24-year-old cited for battery for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend at a party; a 25-year-old accused of battery for allegedly slugging and punching out another man who was found spread-eagled on his back on a downtown street while another man, cited for disorderly conduct, stood nearby taunting the fallen man; a 20-year-old local man taken to jail for substantial battery for breaking down the bedroom door of his ex-girlfriend and then allegedly breaking the nose of her sister who came to help.

River Falls police were called to a house Saturday morning in the 200 block of South Third Street to investigate a dead pet duck. A woman there said a stray, large husky-type dog slipped through a back yard fence and killed one of her ducks.

River Falls police have yet to find the burglar of a house in the 400 block of North Third Street last week Tuesday morning, Sept. 20. A woman there said she took her son to school and didn’t get back until late morning. Her front door was left unlocked. RF Police: You kick it, you pick it
A 22-year-old UW-RF student who was tossed out of a downtown bar just before 2 a.m. Friday took out his frustrations on a large sign outside that advertised $1 drinks. The student allegedly gave the sign the boot, knocking it over. An officer saw the kick, saw the sign fall and told the student to pick up the sign. No way, said the student. His friend offered to pick up the $1 drink sign. No way, said the officer. The sign picking up needed to be done by the kicker.
