  • The newly crowned River Falls Royal Ambassadors made their official parade appearance Friday, July 13. Left to right are Kayla Nguyen, Christin Palmer, Amanda Grove and Sam Idrissi.
  • Friends dress in costume for River Falls Days, playing on the Kinnistitious theme. Left to right: Ervin Thomas, Caryn Konop, Katie Hammarback, Sam Hammarback and Lindsey Neu.
  • The UW River Falls Dance Team performed in the parade.
  • The local Fighting Fish baseball team rode on a float with their mascot.
  • A downpour of rain lasted about 20 minutes and though it delayed the start of the River Falls Days parade, the rain didn't seem to dampen spirits.
  • River Falls' fire trucks drove in the parade along with local ambulances and some vehicles belonging to the municipal utility.
  • The UW River Falls mascot, Freddy Falcon, also joined parade festivities.
  • River Falls Ambulance Service Director Jeff Rixmann handed out plastic bags before the parade so kids would have something to hold the candy they collect as it's thrown from parade floats.
  • One big section of the parade was comprised of the St. Croix Valley Collector's Association, many of whom own vintage tractors.
  • The Zor Roadrunners moved fast along the parade route, riding up, down and in circles on zippy go-karts.
  • River Falls Days visitors could listen to live music in a variety of venues. The stage at Second and Locust streets featured dancing and a beer garden; a multi-piece brass band played there early Saturday evening.
  • Many run in the annual River Falls Days race and-or the fun-run event, too.
  • Kids' activities included many under the big tent near Second and Locust streets, as well as at the public libarary, which among other things included a petting zoo.
  • Kids' shows in the tent included magic, science, jugglers, talent contests and more.
  • Different groups and civic organizations serve food during River Falls Days each year; for 2012 it was the River Falls Lions Club, Rotary Club, Sportsman Club and the Unitarian Universalist Church, as well as a vendor making and selling the popular Island Noodles sauteed with soy sauce and vegetables.
  • The annual eating contest drew several contestants, who instead of eating bean burritos ate slider-style burgers.
  • Kids along the parade route learned to hold out their hands so they could catch the candy thrown from parade floats.
