PHOTO GALLERY: Eagle Scouts fly high, enrich community

Three River Falls Eagle Scouts were recognized June 10, at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held at St. Bridget Catholic Church, where they are members. Left to right: Jens Myklebust, 18; Augustine Pupungatoa, 18; and Christopher Camber, 17. Each young man also completed a project in the community that people might recognize now or in the future. Eagle Scout status marks the culmination of years of work in earning 21 merit badges, achieving five ranks and serving in various leadership positions. The ceremony included a flag presentation, bugler playing “To the Colors,” an invocation, Scout Law candle ceremony, an explanation of the Trail of the Eagle, recitation of the Eagle Pledge, Scoutmaster comments, recognition of the Scouts’ parents and the presentation of the young men’s Eagle badges. Each new Eagle Scout spoke briefly before the rite ended with the song “America the Beautiful.”

  • Chimney swifts look like flying cigars and they go around eating insects; Ben Pierce led the project to build them a roosting tower in Highview Meadows park, where they'll attach their nest to a groove and building it sideways.
